Enjoy your delicious and aromatic Indian masala chai!
Begin by gathering your ingredients: black tea leaves (loose-leaf or tea bags), cardamom pods, ginger, milk, sugar, and water. The quantity of each ingredient can be adjusted to your preference. For a classic masala chai, you’ll need about 2 teaspoon of black tea leaves, 2 crushed cardamom pods, and a small piece of ginger.

In a small pot, add 1 cup of water. To enhance the flavor, you can also include a few slices of ginger. Crush the cardamom pods to release their aromatic oils. Add the crushed cardamom and ginger to the water. If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, you can grate the ginger instead.
Bring the water to a simmer and add the black tea leaves. Allow the mixture to simmer for 3-4 minutes, or until the water is infused with the tea and spices. The liquid should turn a dark brown color.

Once the tea has brewed, add a cup of milk and a tablespoon of sugar. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for another 3 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together.
Now, it’s time to enjoy your freshly brewed masala chai. You can customize the chai by adding more or less sugar, using different types of milk, or experimenting with additional spices like cloves, cinnamon, or black pepper.

Masala chai is a versatile beverage that can be enjoyed hot or cold. It’s a perfect way to start your day, unwind after a long day, or simply indulge in a comforting treat. With a few simple ingredients and a little time, you can create this delicious and aromatic Indian tea right in your own kitchen.
