Top it with marshmallows or whipped cream to elevate the look and taste! To make it chai like, I add spices commonly added to chai and it adds a depth of flavor with the whole spices which is unmatched!

Chocolate: The base of hot chocolate is typically made from either cocoa powder or melted chocolate. Cocoa powder provides a more concentrated chocolate flavor, while melted chocolate creates a richer, creamier texture.

Milk: The liquid base of hot chocolate is usually milk, which makes the drink creamy and smooth. You can also use alternatives like almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk for a dairy-free version.

Cream: Adding cream can make hot chocolate extra rich and indulgent, creating a velvety texture.

Ingredients

  • Chocolate bar – 1 (dark or milk, I used milk chocolate)

  • Milk – 2 cups

  • Heavy Cream – 1/3 cup

  • Ginger – 1 inch

  • Cocoa powder – 1 tbsp

  • Cayenne – 1 tsp

  • WHOLE SPICES
  • Green cardamom – 3 pods

  • Cloves – 3

  • Cinnamon stick – 1

Directions

  • Chop up one and a half large chocolate bar (I used dairy milk chocolate).
  • Grab a pot and add in 2 cups of milk, 3 green cardamom pods, 3 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick.
  • Add a bit of cream, a knob of ginger, and a big pinch of cayenne.
  • Bring that to a simmer add the chopped chocolate bar and 1 tbsp cocoa powder.
  • Bring to a boil and let simmer for 2 minutes, take it off the heat and pour into a glass then its TIME TO ENJOY!
  • Optionally you can add marshmallows on top!
